Categorizing me is a little difficult as my experience is quite broad and mixed. I am best described as "T-shaped" - meaning I have a particular focus (web/internet technologies) but am adaptable and contribute constructively in most environments.

In the last seventeen years, the arc of my career has seen me go from hardware engineering to management information systems, onto interaction and product design.

In an ideal collaborative working environment, I'd like to work as part of a design team surrounded by people who know more than myself in various disciplines.

Folk like myself are sometimes classified as 'Generalists'. That's not untrue but it doesn't do the 'focus' part justice. My focus might be classified as interaction design (IxD). This was a term coined by Bill Moggridge (co-Founder of Ideo ) in the nineteen eighties. As it suggests, it concerns itself with the interactivity between end user and how they communicate and operate a product or service. This encompasses usability, content, navigation, flow, 'findability' and user experience. It is a user-centered approach to design which is arrived at using a design process some refer to as design thinking.
